The stone observatory on the Bloody lane is now finished and ready for visitors. The view from this point alone is worth a visit to the famous Bloody lane as you can take in the entire right to the left nearly four miles. There will be, when all planted, nearly four hundred markers, giving one a good idea of the entire battle field with the advantage of the good roads. Every body ought to visit it and make a study of this great battle.
WMRR Tunnel on Jack's Mountain

Yesterday, or actually early this morning, I talked about a walk I took on the old Western Maryland Line up on Jack's Mountain. I was trying to find some pictures taken near one of the seven bridges on that line. This was the only tunnel dug early enough to be in the photo. It is about 2.5 miles southwest of Fairfield and was built in 1889.
Nonetheless, I did not find the spot. That said, I had a wonderful hike and an exciting walk, or run, through the tunnel. Scary stuff, but it was worth it for the pictures.
